Five Picture Tips for Selling Your Car
When it comes to selling your used car online, there are good ways to do it and bad ways. At Leavitt’s Auto Care, we hear about these sales (or lack thereof) all of the time. As it turns out, many car buyers are very focused on the pictures you take of the car. If you think that means you need to be a great photographer to get your car sold online, think again. Listed below, we have five tips for taking good pictures of your car so you can be effective in selling your used car online.
1. You do not need a professional camera
These days, most people have a camera in their phones. This camera is not the best, but it doesn’t need to be. This is especially true if you are selling your auto online. Expensive cameras worth thousands of dollars cost that much because the photographs they take will be printed in extra-large sizes. On the other hand, your photos will need to be small because larger ones take too long for the website to load.
2. Take the picture the best time of day
You will want clear photos for your potential buyers, and taking a picture that is going to show exactly what they are buying is crucial. If you cannot figure out which time of day is best, try taking the same pictures over the course of a day. Use the images that look best.
3. Look out for photobombs
Do you have a neighbor that likes to wear next to nothing? Make sure they do not end up in the background of your used car photo. Other things that can create too much distraction are children, pets, or traffic. If you can, park your car in front of a large wall to take the pictures.
4. Get the right angles
When you take a picture of the car, make sure you are far enough away to get a good shot. The idea is that you should have one picture that shows all of the car at once. Closeups are good, but they should not be the only type of photo you have for your online car sale listing.
5. Pick up the trash
One of the biggest turn-offs imaginable is a picture of a car that has multiple fast food bags and cups dispersed throughout the vehicle. Do not take the “for sale as-is” idea too far, and clean up your car before you try to sell it online.
